WHAT IS Vinyl FLOORING?

Vinyl flooring is a type of synthetic flooring material made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin, combined with various additives such as plasticizers, stabilizers, pigments, and sometimes fiberglass for added strength. It is a versatile and popular choice for flooring in both residential and commercial settings.

Pros

  • Durability: Vinyl flooring is known for its durability. It is resistant to stains, scratches, and wear and tear, making it suitable for high-traffic areas.

  • Water-Resistance: Many vinyl flooring options are water-resistant, which makes them a good choice for areas prone to moisture, such as bathrooms, kitchens, and basements.

  • Versatility: Vinyl comes in a wide range of styles, colors, and patterns, allowing for versatile design options. It can mimic the look of natural materials like wood or stone.

  • Easy Maintenance: Vinyl flooring is easy to clean and maintain. Regular sweeping and occasional mopping are usually sufficient to keep it in good condition

Cons

  • Not Biodegradable: Vinyl is a synthetic material and is not biodegradable. Proper disposal is essential to minimize environmental impact.

  • VOC Emissions: Some vinyl flooring products may emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which can contribute to indoor air pollution. It’s advisable to choose low-VOC or VOC-free options.

  • Not as Eco-Friendly: While some manufacturers are making efforts to produce more environmentally friendly vinyl flooring, the production and disposal of vinyl can have environmental implications compared to more sustainable flooring options.

  • Not as Realistic as Natural Materials: While vinyl can mimic the appearance of natural materials like wood or stone, it may not match the authenticity and texture of the real thing.

VINYL FLOOR INSTALLS

OUR VINYL INSTALLATION PROCESS

The installation process for vinyl flooring can vary depending on the type of vinyl flooring you’ve chosen—whether it’s vinyl sheet, vinyl tile, or vinyl plank. Additionally, different products may have specific installation instructions provided by the manufacturer

Prepare the Subfloor
Ensure that the subfloor is clean, smooth, and dry. Remove any existing flooring material, adhesive, or debris.
Acclimate the Flooring
Let the vinyl flooring acclimate to the room’s temperature and humidity according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. This usually involves leaving the flooring in the room for a specific period before installation.
Measure and Plan
Measure the room to determine the amount of flooring needed, and plan the layout, taking into consideration the best orientation for the vinyl planks or tiles.
Cutting and Trimming

Measure and cut the vinyl flooring to fit the dimensions of the room, including any necessary cutouts for doorways or irregularities.

Install the Vinyl Flooring

Unroll the vinyl sheet and position it in the room, leaving excess material along the edges. Trim the excess material, leaving a small allowance for any adjustments needed.

Post-Installation Care
Clean the installed vinyl flooring according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. Allow the flooring to set for the recommended time before heavy use.
